The toggle switch is a digital on/off controller that enables the user to switch between settings without submitting the form.

  • Always associate a label to every checkbox for good accessibility. Do not include a colon at the end of the label.
  • Use a toggle switch when users have to choose between two mutually exclusive options.
  • Toggle switches should take immediate effect and should not require the user to submit the form to apply the new state.
  • If immediate results are not achievable, use an alternative like radio buttons or a single checkbox.
